Going Live, Monitoring Bot, and Ongoing Management

Further details on how to manage your bot

Hopefully now your bot will be actively managing liquidity on your exchange's orderbook. To ensure optimal performance:

Monitoring:

  • Regularly check bot performance by logging into your market making account on your exchange and check the history trade page.

  • Monitor market depth, spreads, and executed orders. You can do this directly on the Pro Trade page and check the OPEN ORDERS vs. the RECENT TRADES to make sure everything is working as planned.

Management Tips:

  • Periodically review and adjust bot parameters to align with changing market conditions. For example, in up markets you may want to go heavier on the buy side and reduce the spread.

  • You may need to refill the balance if your bot buys or sells too much on one side. Always having enough sell and buy side liquidity is key to market making (profits are a secondary benefit and shouldn't be the focus for your bot).

More Details:

  • Read on below to get more details on bot config:

You can test out new settings and get a preview of what the order size and spread placement will look like. This is great way to understand how the bot will work without committing to anything
To add a wider spread, all you need to do is increase the min spread. You can also tell the bot to place multiple orders and spread them out in a liner flat way (each order the same size), or order size that increase in size the more spread out they are. Note, using min and max budget settings of 0 will allow the bot to automatically manage budget sizes.
'See live' will allow you to see what orders are actually placed on your exchange. Keep in mind if you changed any settings you may need to 'Apply Config' in order to use the new settings (top right of screen)
Back on your crypto exchange, if you login to your market making account, you will see the bot automatically place orders and replace them as orders get filled. Note, your bot will also automatically cancel old orders.
The Live Orders on Octobot will reflect exactly what is on your exchange. Note, you will have to manage the funds on this market making account so as to maintain sufficient balance for both buy and sell side.

By actively managing and monitoring your bot, you'll continuously optimize your exchange's liquidity and enhance overall market confidence and trading experience.

Hopefully by now you will know how to setup and manage your market making bot. If you'd like to get help, and if you are on at least a Crypto Pro plan, then don't hesitate to contact us.
