# Connecting the bot

To connect your market making bot to your HollaEx-powered exchange you first need to create an account on your exchange that will be responsible for market making. This account will hold the funds that are needed for the bot to market make:

### Market making account

1. **Create account** on your exchange.
2. **Create API Keys** on this new account:

* Log in to your account and turn on 2FA to secure account (First tab in your Security page).
* Navigate to Account Security → API Keys.
* Generate new API keys and record the secret key now as it won't be retrievable later (these keys will be used in the next step)<br>

* Give the permissions for trading and market data access (read) to this key. You will need to confirm giving access with your previously setup 2FA and a special email code sent to your email.
  * Note, if you didn't record your secret key, you will have to start step 2. over again and get a new key.<br>

3. **Go to OctoBot Business** *(contact us if you haven’t got a business account on* [*Octobot*](https://market-making.octobot.cloud/) *yet)*:

* **Login to your OctoBot Business account**
* Navigate to **Settings >** [**Credentials**](https://market-making.octobot.cloud/settings?menu=credentials)
* Under the exchange drop down select the name of your exchange (again, if you haven’t got an account setup on OctoBot Business, contact us to get your exchange listed here)<br>

* Enter the rest of the details you previously set up on step 2. (the API Keys)
* Save these credentials, and **remember the name you have given these credentials.**

4. **Connect a bot:**

* Now go to the Bots page (click **bot** :robot: **icon** in the sidebar) and click \`**Start a new bot'**.

* Now **select your exchange** and select the credentials you've added **from step 3** from the drop down, then click '**Next**'.&#x20;
